Hi anybody got any experience riding a mountain bike in IS? I'm planning to ride one by modifying my mountain bike with slicks. Any tips?

I have a few frens who has ridden MTB for interstate successfully. Just use those 1.4 slicks and get the lightest wheel possible. Get into training becoz it is about endurance and taking meals regularly to avoid cramps. I know of a few goinf for IS2007 using MTB this year too

Hi Chopper
I have been riding my 24 speed hardtail MTB on every interstate except last year ( I did not go as I was away on assignment). Should not be a problem if you put on the slicks. The smaller the better. I think I use a 1.2 slicks on mine. If you have a cromoly frame better compliance than alu so ride will be more comfortable.

Many riders have done so. Last year, Rob took his full sus up to Cameron Highlands.

Choose 1.2 slicks for least resistance and build up your endurance and toughen up your butt leather with PCC Sunday and nite rides. The fitter u r, the more enjoyable is the ride.

I rode up to Penang from KL in IS97 ( i think) on a mtb in 2 days. wasn't fit so I suffered; but it can be done.

Cheers

Don
