Dear riders.
Now with the Pres 2006 completed and perhpas still with memories of pain, should we make the 2007 route as difficult, more difficult, shorter, more technical, easy but long XC or build 60km of North shore track?

The feature of the ride is about being an epic one. So we need to maintenance at least the 60KM distance and above and at least some degree of difficulty. I thought the mix of 2006 is the right one.

I think prez 2006 was a great one....may be it should be another 10 to 15 km longer ...if possible...
coming back to the discussion about having it on a self sufficient ride, i think there are pros and cons....on a further thought...i will still prefer it to be a sponsored and supported one....of coz some people will have to work la...
but it is for the benefit of the majority...and let's not be hold back by a small number of bad riders....
only thingn is to have new and different people working so that those who have contributed and sacrifice will have a chance to ride...instead of ...work..

Sponsored: Yes
Technical: Well, not always possible, but would be great to have more.
Supported: Try to be as much as possible. With the number of riders, casualites are expected but the unprepared shall always be part of the many.
Length: Epic...therefore as long as you can make it. Ever thought of making the Presidential Ride a 24hr event ? Perhaps laps of a 20 or 30km loop ?
I must admit that I was unprepared...and gave in due to lack of training after Loop 2....but as you said, the core of an event should be determined by what it is there for...and not who joins. Those who join will have to prepare for it should they want to enjoy it fully...
Kudos to the organisers regardless...faultless event from my eyes.

Yes that counts....in the beginning...but when your body is weary, and breaking down...vision becomes blurry and hazy..muscles on the verge of cramping....body says no...Will says yes....the pain....the joy...the suffering...the ecstasy...
