Shifting issues

A technical query to the experts here:

I've just got myself a new bike with 105 drivetrain. My chain keeps skipping on the cogs. The problem is that the chain just can't stick to the second biggest cog and it will try to go up or down depending on whether I'm shifting up or down. This also happens to one of the cogs in the middle. Any idea how to cure this?

Thanks
