Road Time Trial - Volunteers Wanted!

I am considering organising a road time trial for 18 Feb 07 but will need at least one volunteer to assist with timing and possibly other things.

You'll need to be at the start by 7am. The event will finish around 10am. You will NOT be able to take part in the time trial.

The location will probably be Old Gombak Road (climb to G. Sempah) or Putrajaya.

Cool can't help u with dates .. Idea .but can suggest site...SG. Tekala picnic area to Bt. 18 turn off and back. U will get 15km uninterupted.....just have to post marshalls at turn around so they will be safe and will turn around safely.... Cool

that'll take you by the dam right? nice, very scenic route. rolling terrain, perfect for a TT. you could even include a climb if you put the finish line at the top of genting peres.

a peres or sempah climb TT would be good but my idea for the first one is to have a fairly flat course, around 15-20km, to try to attract new and less confident riders. i think a hill tt would scare some people.

i am trying to work out a good course in kl.

possibly a saturday tt as many folks will want to do their long rides or other events on a sunday a.m.

Cool so the sg.tekala to junction wud be your best bet for ideal circuit at the moment...minus the peres part .you will get 15 km nice road surface..scenic route and minimal traffic....a KL circuit is difficult to find without traffic lights ,without junctions and without traffic....why dont you take a drive there or better ride there one sat morn or eve to check the route.... Rolling Eyes ... on the question of getting newbies to the TT....well Rolling Eyes already hard enough to get them to ride a normal slow paced ride let alone trying to get them to a TIME TRIAL... Question what's that a speed test or what...waaaa...'im still begginer...

anyway...check out the route and fix a date... Cool

agree with dreambiker. the sg tekala route would be best for a first tt.

sg. tekala sounds good.

i know where you mean but dont know the picnic area or Bt 18.

if you go from Bt 14 (usual ride start point) up the hill and down the other side to the t-junction, dam in front of you, where is Bt18 & picnic area?

i know what you mean about difficulty attracting new riders, but i will emphasise that this tt will not be a SERIOUS event, and that it will be enjoyable if you are slow or fast, fat or thin, old, young etc...

i plan to invite way2ride and the duathlon/tri crowd too.
